Shrinkage FAQ

This page is devoted to frequently asked questions (FAQ) related to shrinkage.

On this page:

How is shrinkage modeled?

Answer: Please see the Bridge shrinkage example tutorial for a demonstration of shrinkage application.

During shrinkage analysis, why are there no reactions?

Extended Question: I am using a nonlinear long-term cracked-analysis load case to model shrinkage behavior. Why are there no reactions?

Answer: To perform nonlinear cracked-section analysis, a Dead load case must be applied to the slab surface to induce deflections and reactions.
