There are two main options to generate reports in SAP2000 by either using xml template or by using the Advanced Report Writer. Both of these options are available from the File menu.

On this page:

Reports via XML File

This is the newer, more straightforward, way to create reports.

Advanced Report Writer

This is the original, more powerful, but also more complex way to create reports.

Report Format File

The information that gets displayed in individual report tables is controlled by the currently attached report format file. You can attach the report format files for both xml-based reports and reports created via advanced report writer.

The default format file SapDefaultFormatFile.fmt is located in the SAP2000 user settings folder (typically C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Local Settings\Application Data\Computers and Structures\, some folders may be hidden). You can edit this default format file (we would however recommend editing a copy of this format file) via "Options > Database > Edit Format File".
