Can ETABS deactivate torsion for beam design?

Answer: No, any force component which occurs within a structural element should be present in the formulation and accounted for in design. Unconservative errors would result from deactivating beam torsion. Further, equilibrium conditions must be maintained. Torsional moment, which primarily results from compatibility of deformations, may be reduced by adjusting torsional stiffness. This should be appropriate in that torsional-stiffness formula tend to be conservative.
