Can ETABS deactivate torsion for beam design?

Answer: ETABS does not negate any property or force component which occurs within a structural member because these values should be present in formulation and accounted for in design. Unconservative errors would result from deactivating beam torsion. Further, equilibrium conditions must be maintained. Torsional moment, which primarily results from the compatibility of deformations, may be reduced by adjusting torsional stiffness. This should be appropriate in that torsional-stiffness formula tend to be conservative.
