CSiPlant Import of BOSpulse Piping Pulsation Loads

With cooperation from Dynaflow Research Group BV (DRG), CSI has developed a CSiPlant import of piping pulsation loads from reciprocating equipment generated from DRG’s BOSpulse software which uses API 618 and API 674 guidelines. The CSiPlant BOSpulse import is unique in that it generates sinusoidal time history functions for the pulsation loads which can be analyzed as nonlinear time history cases to account for friction, gaps, and P-delta effects. Energy dissipation devices may be included in the model using CSiPlant’s damper support or damper link elements. See CSiPlant Help menu>Documentation>Documents>Import>

 for detailed instructions.

User defined piping pulsation loads

CSiPlant's Define>Functions>Time history offer several options to quickly generate cyclic sinusoidal time history loads to analyze piping pulsations from reciprocating equipment. In the example below we add a cosine function with .025 period (seconds), which is 40 Hertz. Options are also available for users to specify Steps per cycle, number of cycles, amplitude shift, initial time shift, phase shift and wave rectification. There is no limit to the number of time history functions which can be defined and analyzed. This function can be applied to an assigned load, typically a max shaking load point on elbows.

Users can also apply sine and cosine functions to analyze unbalanced loads from any vibrating machinery.
