Numerical problems

Numerical problems or stability problems may arise during analysis. If so, the log file should be reviewed. Information may be retrieved using the standard solver, available through Analyze > Set Analysis Options > Solver Options. Numerical problems should be fully resolved before analysis results are interpreted.

When CSI Software encounters zero stiffness, a warning message will indicate that a small stiffness value has been assigned to allow numerical formulation to proceed. The model should still be checked to identify and remove the source of zero stiffness.
