To ensure compatibility between

MatLab
and the SAP2000 [API], single-cell arrays (1x1 matrices) should be dimensioned as 2x1 matrices, then only the first cell should be used. By default, MatLab settings store numeric values within the double-precision floating-point numeric class. This would otherwise pose a problem since the API expects an array.
