Web-activated network licenses use NetKey.exe to activate, deactivate, reactivate, and renew the licenses on the license server. This tool can be found in the Sentinel RMS 8.6 (& 8.5) Utilities installation folder, and a shortcut is provided on the Windows Start menu. The activation key is required to activate or reactivate a license. Users should always deactivate their licenses before uninstalling the License Manager and/or Sentinel RMS Utilities.

The license activation server ports are 80 and 443. If either of these ports is blocked, they need to be opened, otherwise license activation will not be possible. Please refer to the Error 'Port 80 (or 443) is not responding' when running activation tool for web-activated licenses article for additional information.
