Generation of tendon layout within bridge girders

As of CSiBridge V18.1.1, the tendon layout within individual girders is generated as follows:

  • Layouts for all tendons are defined based on the bridge layout line and then "projected" to each girder or specified offset distance along the mesh lines or bridge object section cut orientations. When the meshing is not even (such as due to skewed supports), this projection might cause slight distortion of the tendon profile.
  • The impact of this distortion can be eliminated by defining user discretization points with bearing angles set to match the desired direction of the projection. This in fact provides some degree of flexibility to control the tendon generation.
  • Future version of the program will allow adding girder lines as additional  tendon profile reference lines so users not only can define a tendon based on the layout line but they can pick one of the girder line as the reference line.

Bridge tendon tips

  • The bridge modeler creates bridge tendons which users may modify through the Define > Section Properties > Tendon Sections menu. Please edit tendons within the bridge modeler, and not outside, as their properties may be overwritten during update.
