To obtain a moment curvature curve for a giver section, first create the section in the section designer. Once you have created the section in Section Designer, click on "Display > Show Moment-Curvature Curve ..." menu command. This will show the M-C curve for a default axial force of zero (see below). You can generate the M-C curve for any axial load by inputting the desired load in the "P" field and clicking the "Refresh" button.

Neutral Axis Location

The neutral axis location is measured from the centroid of the cross-section, perpendicular to the line that is defined by the angle as shown in the figure below:

*Moment-curvature* curves may be obtained for a given section and axial load through the following process:

* Create the section using the [Section Designer|kb:Section Designer].

* Select Display > Show Moment-Curvature Curve to display the moment-curvature curve for a default axial force of zero (Figure 1).

* Enter the desired axial force (P), then select Refresh to generate the curve for a specific axial load.

h1. Neutral-axis location

Angle (Deg) specifies the orientation of the neutral axis, measured counterclockwise from the negative 3 axis, as shown in Figure 2. Moment-curvature formulation then determines the location of the neutral axis. Neutral-axis location is measured along an orthogonal projection from the neutral axis to the section centroid.
