h2. What is the difference between SAP2000 and PERFORM-3D and SAP2000? *Answer:* [PERFORM-3D|perform:Home] hasoffers some specialspecialized types of [nonlinear|kb:Nonlinear] elementsobjects thatwhich are not currently not available into [SAP2000 (such as Shear Wall element, General Wall element, Infill Panel element). Additionally, PERFORM 3D allows you to define various limit states for different elements and output D/C ratios for these limit states. This feature is not currently available in SAP2000. Our goal is to eventually integrate PERFORM 3D with SAP2000 so that the users could use elements available in PERFORM 3D within the SAP2000 interface that they are familiar with. Please note that a general [nonlinear layered shell element|kb:Layered shell element] has been already implemented in V14 of SAP2000 and it can be used for the similar purpose as the PERFORM wall elements|sap2000:home], including a shear wall, general wall, and infill panel. A general nonlinear [layered shell object|kb:Layered shell element] has been introduced in SAP2000 which serves a function similar to that of PERFORM-3D wall objects. PERFORM-3D also enables various limit states and output D/C ratios to be defined for object groups. Color-coordinated animations depict the dynamic response of these limit states. Ultimately we would like to integrate PERFORM-3D into SAP2000 such that users may access the [modeling|kb:Modeling techniques] features and analysis capabilities of PERFORM-3D within the familiar interface of SAP2000. {related-incident:no=24372|comment=Comparison of PERFORM and SAP2000} |
