There are two primary ways to include P-Delta effect:

  1. Create a nonlinear analysis case for each load combination including the P-Delta geometric nonlinearity parameter.
  2. Create an Initial P-Delta Analysis case including the P-Delta geometric nonlinearity parameter for the anticipated gravity loads, and consider all other analyses as linear using the stiffness matrix developed for this one set of P-delta loads.

The two primary means for including [P-Delta|kb:Geometric nonlinearity] effect in [nonlinear|kb:Nonlinear] analysis include:

# For each [load combination|kb:Load combination], create a nonlinear analysis [case|kb:Load case] which includes the P-Delta geometric-nonlinearity parameter.

\\
# For the gravity loads anticipated, create an Initial P-Delta Analysis [case|kb:Load case] which includes the P-Delta geometric-nonlinearity parameter, then consider all other analyses as linear while using the stiffness matrix developed for this one set of P-Delta loads.
