It is possible that sometimes the model file in SAP2000 model files of binary format may get become corrupted due to reasons beyond our control (e.g. network congestion/:

Files may be recovered through one of the following methods:

  • In binary format, open the model backup file

  • In text format, import the model backup file, which is the $2K extension automatically created.

Each of these backup files should be located with the SDB file, and should reflect the most recently saved model.
