Beginning with SAP2000 v23.0.0, the necessary components to open v16 and older models are no longer included in the installation due to requirements set out by Microsoft for their application certification program. SAP2000 v22.2.0 and earlier are not affected by this.
If you have a SAP2000 v16, v15, v14, or older v12 model file (*.sdb) that you would like to open in SAP2000 v23 or laternewer, please do the following to open the filefollow the steps below. This places the necessary components into the installation directory such that old models can be open directly from within SAP2000 v23 or later. Please follow these steps.
- Download the SAPTrans.zip file.
- Unzip this file into the SAP2000 installation directory (i.e. C:\Program Files\Computers and Structures\SAP2000 23). After unzipping the file, there should be a new SAPTrans folder inside the installation folder. If you are unable to unzip the contents into the installation directory then you likely do not have sufficient permissions. You should contact your IT department to assist with this.
- Run SAP2000 and open the old model file.
NOTE: SAP2000 v11 and older models are not officially supported with this translator. The translator may work on some machines depending on what other software components are installed. If you are unable to open a SAP2000 v11 or older model, please contact your local CSI support representative.
